I don’t like the font rendering in Jaunty Jackalope (Ubuntu 9.04) because it is too Mac-like. For those of you who don’t know, Macs render fonts optimized for print, not screen-reading, thus making them blurry on-screen.*

But this is Linux, so I can change it. And I have.

Here’s how you can change it, too.

*Mac devotees will disagree, but they are just wrong. Though they may prefer the fonts they are used to, Mac fonts are objectively more blurry — because, duh, that’s what happens when you don’t try to fit the on-screen fonts into the square pixels of an LCD or CRT screen. No opinion here, just math. If you prefer blurry, good on you. But don’t tell me they aren’t blurry, because that’s not an opinion, just what you are used to.
